How to Donate Crypto from Trust Wallet

Trust Wallet supports every coin we accept, which makes it convenient and also easy to pick the wrong version of a token. This guide shows how to tell USDT on TRON from USDT elsewhere, what you need for fees, how XRP and Bitcoin work in the app, and how to find your transaction hash.

Trust Wallet is a self-custody wallet: you hold your own keys, and only you can send your crypto. It supports more than 100 blockchains, including all nine coin-and-network pairs we accept in the mobile app. There is also a browser extension for Chrome, Brave and Edge, which may not support every coin.

Same name, different network

In Trust Wallet, a token on two networks shows up as two separate assets. You can hold “USDT” on TRON, on Ethereum and on BNB Smart Chain at the same time, each with its own balance. Only one of them can be donated to us. Before you send, open the asset and check its network:

USDTUSDT on TRON (TRC20)TRX
USDCUSDC on Ethereum (ERC20)ETH, or a supported token with FlexGas
ETHEthereum on the Ethereum networkETH
BNBBNB on BNB Smart ChainBNB
TRXTRX on TRONTRX (often covered by free bandwidth)

Step by step

  1. On our homepage, choose a cause, the coin and the amount, and copy our address.
  2. In Trust Wallet, tap Send and choose the asset, checking the network as above.
  3. Paste our address. Trust Wallet will show which network the send uses; make sure it matches before you go on.
  4. Enter the amount and leave any memo or tag field empty.
  5. Review the network fee, then tap Confirm.

Fees and FlexGas

Trust Wallet doesn’t charge anything for sending; the fee you see goes to the network. Normally you need the network’s own coin to pay it, which is why USDT on TRON needs TRX in your wallet and USDC on Ethereum needs ETH.

Trust Wallet’s FlexGas feature can, if you turn it on in the app, pay the fee in TWT, USDT or USDC instead, on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, OP and Base. It doesn’t cover TRON, so for USDT on TRON you still need TRX. Trust Wallet charges a small fee on swaps, but not on ordinary sends.

XRP in Trust Wallet

Every XRP Ledger account must keep a reserve that can’t be sent: 1 XRP, plus 0.2 XRP for each extra item such as a trust line. It was 10 XRP until December 2024, and some older help articles, including one in Trust Wallet’s own community forum, still give the old figure. When you send XRP to us, leave the Memo or Destination Tag field empty; our address doesn’t use one.

Bitcoin in Trust Wallet

Trust Wallet supports modern Bitcoin address types, including SegWit and Taproot, and can send to our address, which starts with bc1. Bitcoin fees depend on the size of the transaction and how busy the network is, not the amount, so a small donation can cost as much to send as a large one. Our Bitcoin guide explains fees and stuck transactions.

Finding your transaction hash

Open your transaction history (the clock icon), tap the donation, and choose to view it on a block explorer. Copy the transaction hash from the explorer page and submit it on our donation screen.

Watch out for fake Trust Wallet support

Your 12 words stay with you

Trust Wallet says it will never message you on social apps, or anywhere else, to ask for your 12-word secret phrase. Anyone who asks for it, including someone claiming to be Trust Wallet support or a charity, is trying to empty your wallet. We will never ask for it either.

Scammers also plant look-alike addresses in wallet histories with tiny transfers, hoping you will copy the wrong one later. Copy our address from our site each time, and compare the whole address before you confirm. Our guide to crypto charity scams covers other tricks to watch for.

Common questions

I have USDT on BNB Smart Chain in Trust Wallet. Can I donate it?

Not as it is. We accept USDT only on TRON. If Trust Wallet’s Swap offers a route to USDT on TRON you could use it (Trust Wallet charges a swap fee), or donate another coin you hold on its accepted network.

Why does my TRX balance go down when I send USDT?

USDT transfers on TRON use energy, and if you have none staked, TRX is burned to pay for it. That is the network fee, not a Trust Wallet charge.

Can I donate from the Trust Wallet browser extension?

Yes, for the coins the extension supports. The steps are the same: choose the asset on the right network, paste our address, review and confirm. If your coin or network isn’t listed in the extension, use the mobile app. FlexGas may only be available in the app.
