Funds research, training and community workshops on rural women's land rights, addressing a documented gap in land ownership between men and women.
Why this matters in Bolivia
Bolivia's 2009 Constitution and its agrarian laws give women equal rights to own land, and since 1996 the national land institute, INRA, has been surveying and titling rural property in a long process known as saneamiento. Titles can be issued jointly to couples, with the woman's name listed first. On paper, the framework is among the most favorable to women in the region.
In practice, many rural women never see their names on a title. Inheritance customs in many highland and valley communities pass land to sons; widows and separated women can lose access when relatives or community authorities rule against them; and women are less likely to hold the identity documents, marriage certificates or reading skills needed to follow a titling case. Legal fees and travel to land offices add further barriers. Without a title, a woman cannot easily defend her land in a dispute, use it as collateral, or be sure it passes to her children.

Giving in Bolivia
Rural women's economic standing is the focus of two Bolivian causes. Ayuda en Accion funds shared processing equipment so women's agricultural cooperatives can sell processed goods instead of raw crops at lower margins, and Fundacion TIERRA runs research, training and community workshops on rural women's land rights, addressing a documented gap in ownership between women and men. The third, with Fundacion Amigos de la Naturaleza, uses forest monitoring, fire alerts and land-use planning to keep fragmented lowland habitat connected for wildlife.
3 causes are listed in Bolivia, each with its own verified organization. $437,281 has been distributed to causes in Bolivia since 2021.
