Why this matters in Syria
Displaced families in northwest Syria have now spent years in tents and unfinished buildings, some since the early part of the war, others since the February 2023 earthquake destroyed their homes. Winters in Idlib and the Aleppo countryside bring freezing nights, heavy rain and occasional snow. Tents grow damp and collapse, camp roads turn to mud, and families burn plastic, old shoes or wet wood for warmth, filling shelters with toxic smoke and causing fires.
Since the fall of the Assad government in December 2024, some families have gone home, only to find houses without windows, doors or roofs and towns without reliable electricity. Rebuilding is slow and expensive, so many returnees spend the winter in partly damaged rooms. International aid budgets for Syria have shrunk over the same period, making the winter distributions that camps once counted on less certain. Children, older people and the sick are most exposed to respiratory illness and hypothermia.

Organization
Molham Volunteering Team · Syria
US IRS EIN · No. 88-3627024
Founded 2012 · Headquarters: Alpharetta, Georgia (USA)
Runs winter aid for displaced families in northern Syria camps.
How they work: Molham began in 2012 as an initiative of young Syrian volunteers and still relies heavily on volunteers working alongside paid staff. Much of its funding comes from public online campaigns, and it publishes photo and video documentation of distributions and projects so donors can follow where money goes. Its work covers winter aid, housing, education, health care and orphan sponsorship, mainly among displaced families.
Track record: In January 2022 Molham's #UntilTheLastTent campaign raised over $2 million in under five days to move 500 displaced families from tents into homes in northwest Syria.

Giving in Syria
Families returning to damaged homes in Syria face broken water systems and hard winters, and the two causes listed meet both needs. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent repairs water pumping stations and pipes in areas where displaced people are coming back. Molham Volunteering Team provides insulation, heating fuel and blankets for families living in damaged homes and camps through the cold months. Both aim to make return and recovery workable after years of war.
2 causes are listed in Syria, each with its own verified organization. $208,448 has been distributed to causes in Syria since 2021.
