Supports the peer recovery workforce and local recovery community organizations with training, accreditation and technical help, in a country where overdose deaths remain high in many counties.
Why this matters in the United States
The overdose crisis has come in waves, from prescription opioids to heroin to illicitly made fentanyl, and the hardest-hit counties are often in Appalachia, parts of the Midwest and New England, along with a growing number of urban neighborhoods. National overdose deaths fell sharply in 2024, but the decline has been uneven, and many rural counties still have few clinicians who prescribe buprenorphine, opioid treatment programs hours away and little public transport to reach them.
Medication for opioid use disorder sharply lowers the risk of death, yet many people who need it never start, and many stop within months. Leaving treatment early is usually driven by practical problems: transport, insurance gaps, unstable housing, court obligations and stigma. Peer recovery coaches, people in long-term recovery themselves, help close that gap by staying in touch between appointments, helping with housing and work, and keeping someone engaged after an overdose or relapse.

US IRS EIN · No. 51-0516206
Founded 2001 · Headquarters: Washington, DC
National recovery organization supporting peer recovery support services and recovery community organizations.
How they work: Faces & Voices of Recovery is a national advocacy and capacity-building organization rather than a direct service provider. It supports recovery community organizations, the local peer-run groups that employ recovery coaches, through technical assistance, training and accreditation of peer recovery support services. It also organizes people in recovery to advocate on policy, including access to medication and recovery housing, and to speak publicly about recovery.
Track record: Runs the Alliance for Recovery Centered Organizations (ARCO), a network of local, regional and statewide recovery organizations that supports the peer recovery workforce.

Giving in the United States
Where public systems leave gaps, the American causes on this site step in: rural towns that have lost their only hospital or cannot afford to fix aging water lines, cities where rents have outrun shelter capacity, and counties hit hardest by opioid overdoses. Other funds back veterans, survivors of domestic violence, foster youth aging out of care and Hispanic college students, many of them first-generation. Partners range from national nonprofits such as Meals on Wheels America and the American Red Cross to a federal rural health office and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
24 causes are listed in the United States, each with its own verified organization. $2,628,640 has been distributed to causes in the United States since 2021.
