Helps refugee and migrant youth access Germany's vocational Ausbildung system by funding language-bridging courses required before formal enrollment.
Why this matters in Germany
Language is usually the first hurdle for refugee and migrant teenagers aiming at an apprenticeship. Employers and vocational schools generally expect German at around B1 to B2 level, enough to follow technical lessons and pass written exams, yet state integration courses typically end at B1 and places on follow-on job-related language courses can involve long waits. Many newcomers also lack recognized school certificates and are unfamiliar with how applications, internships and training contracts work.
For young people with an uncertain residence status, a training contract can carry extra weight, since a special toleration status for trainees, the Ausbildungsduldung, can provide security for the length of the training. Without targeted language support and guidance, motivated young people drift into unskilled jobs or long waits, while firms in trades and care struggle to fill places. Bridging courses focused on the language of the workplace help close that gap before formal enrollment.

Organization
JOBLINGE · Germany
Founded 2008 · Headquarters: Munich
Runs programmes (incl. its Kompass refugee track) helping disadvantaged and refugee youth into Ausbildung.
How they work: JOBLINGE is a joint initiative of companies, public agencies and volunteers, organized as a non-profit company with local branches. Its program is practical rather than classroom-led: participants work on team projects, then complete internships with partner firms and apply for training places as they would for a job. Each young person is paired with a volunteer mentor, and staff stay in touch after placement to help them through the first months of training.
Track record: JOBLINGE launched its Kompass programme for refugees in 2016; since 2007 more than 15,000 young people have taken part in its six-month programmes, with a reported 80% placement rate.

Giving in Germany
Labor shortages and migration tie together much of the German list. Language-bridging courses help refugee and migrant youth enter the Ausbildung vocational system, while other funds train new elder-care workers and subsidize home-care visits as formal care places become harder to secure. The range extends to asylum legal aid through PRO ASYL, winter shelter for an estimated 531,600 homeless people, flood repair grants in river valleys, diagnostic guidance for people with rare diseases and string instrument loans for gifted young musicians. Partners include welfare federations such as Caritas and Diakonie alongside the German Red Cross.
