Funds musical instruments and music-making projects for schools and community groups where budget cuts have left pupils without instruments or regular music lessons.
Why this matters in the United Kingdom
Music and art have been squeezed in English state schools for more than a decade. For years, accountability measures such as the English Baccalaureate left out creative subjects, budgets have been tight in real terms, and many secondary schools have cut arts timetables or stopped offering GCSE music. Specialist teachers have left, and instruments bought years ago have worn out, broken or gone missing.
The result is a divide that follows family income. Children whose parents can pay for private lessons and their own instrument still learn, while pupils in schools serving low-income areas may never hold a violin or a trumpet beyond a single taster session. Local music hubs provide some instrumental teaching, but schools often lack the instruments and materials to keep classes going week after week. Equipping a school directly means a whole class can take part, not only the children whose families can afford it.

Music for All · United Kingdom
Charity Commission for England and Wales · No. 1055371
Founded 1996 · Headquarters: London
UK charity funding musical instruments and music projects for schools and communities.
How they work: Music for All describes itself as the charity of the musical instruments industry, with close ties to manufacturers and retailers in that trade, and its aim is simply more people making music. It gives grants to individuals for instruments and tuition and to community groups and projects that let people try playing. It also coordinates Learn to Play Day, a weekend each March when music shops, schools and venues across the country offer free taster sessions to people of any age.
Track record: In 2025 Music for All distributed 323 musical instruments and awarded over £88,565 in cash grants to disadvantaged individuals, educators and community projects.

Giving in the United Kingdom
Long waits and stretched budgets connect most of the British causes here. Several respond to NHS waiting lists in England, including the more than 550,000 children and young people waiting for mental health support, while others address rough sleeping, food bank demand still far above pre-pandemic levels, unlawful evictions and winter warmth for low-income pensioners. Youth employment, foster care, regional theatres and rare genetic disease research round out the range, with established charities such as The Trussell Trust, St Mungo's, Shelter and Age UK as partners.
19 causes are listed in the United Kingdom, each with its own verified organization. $1,137,510 has been distributed to causes in the United Kingdom since 2021.
